Overview

Nonato’s Kitchen, a vibrant Mexican eatery nestled at 5362 Cleveland Ave in Columbus, Ohio, offers a fresh, authentic taste of Mexican street food with a focus on birria and classic tacos. This modest yet welcoming spot has carved a niche for itself among local food lovers who crave genuine flavors made from fresh, handmade ingredients.

At the heart of Nonato’s Kitchen’s menu lies the birria dishes—a soul-satisfying treat that comes alive with tender, slow-cooked beef infused with rich spices. The birria torta, a lightly fried telera sandwich, delivers a delightful medley of beef birria, creamy avocado, beans, and cheese, complemented by a savory consomé for dipping. This pairing showcases the kitchen’s expert balance between bold meatiness and fresh, creamy textures. Similarly, the birria quesadilla and birria ramen speak to a creative take on traditional recipes, highlighting the versatility of their signature birria.

Beyond birria, Nonato’s Kitchen excels with their tacos and tortas that feature handmade tortillas and fresh, crisp vegetables like lettuce and tomatoes, alongside well-seasoned meats such as al pastor, carnitas, and asada. Each taco is a compact, flavorful experience that reflects the time-honored Mexican street food culture. The fried green tomatoes and baguette add charming, unexpected elements that diversify the menu and appeal to varying tastes.

Though the venue itself shares space as a food truck parked in a residential area—a detail some might find unconventional—the welcoming atmosphere and accessible parking soften any initial hesitation. Customers often praise the friendly, knowledgeable staff who provide excellent service and genuine recommendations, fostering a personal connection that elevates the overall dining experience. The efficient service ensures orders arrive promptly, even during busy times.

Nonato’s Kitchen is ideal for diners seeking authentic Mexican fare without pretense—whether grabbing a satisfying lunch or indulging in an evening meal filled with bold flavors and comforting textures. The location may be unassuming, but the quality and freshness of the food make every visit worthwhile. This spot appeals to Mexican food enthusiasts, local workers, and curious food adventurers eager to explore rich culinary traditions served simply and well.

In sum, Nonato’s Kitchen offers a genuine, flavorful journey through Mexican cuisine with standout birria creations and classic tacos made from scratch. It’s a place that rewards those willing to try something true, honest, and delicious in the heart of Columbus.

Delicious! I paid $24 for two orders of birria tacos which come with 3 tacos each and some sauces. Only took 13 minutes to receive. Very filling and fresh. Good customer service! Location is a little weird but there is parking. Accepts card.

I was kind of nervous to visit this food truck because it's parked in front of a house. But I'm sooooo glad I did! I got the birria raman, Birria quesadilla, and another dish but I don't remember the name. Everything was excellent! The birria was tender in both dishes, the chicken was juicy and had the right amount of spice. If you're in this area you have to stop by.

I tried the Chicharron, Cabeza and Al Pastor tacos today. All three were delicious. Cabeza was my favorite as it had a rich beef flavor. I’ll be back soon to try the Birria.

I work close by and have come to realize there are many taco trucks and Mexican restaurants in this area. And so, today, I decided to finally try one. Nonato's Kitchen is well reviewed on Google Maps, and I will be continuing that trend. I had the birria with consume. It was very good. The consume is very savory with a bit of chili and tomato as a baseline. Then the floating bits of white onion give it a bit of kick to balance things out. Of course, the move is to dip your birria taco into the consume for that juicy, cruncy, cheesy bite. Oh yeah, how could this not be delicious? The price is also extremely reasonable, especially these days. Fourteen bucks for 3 tacos and consume? Not too shabby! The person at the counter was also very friendly when I asked her a few questions about the food. She made a recommendation and wasn't even afraid to recommend another establishment down the street. It's always nice to hear an honest answer that isn't self-serving. I will definitely check out her recommendation (especially since it's not in Google yet). I intend to continue trying the Mexican food offerings in the area and I'm sure this one will remain at or near the top.

I’ve been passing this truck for months and decided to stop by today. I am so glad I did. I got 5 tacos with different protein. All of them were SO flavorful. While the steak was dry, it had so much flavor that I’d still order it again. The chicken wasn’t dry, which surprised me (food trucks tend to overlook chicken in my experience). The wild card was the chicharron! Because of how it’s cooked, it was soft, not crispy like you’d think. The texture with the soft tortilla threw me off at first, but my goodness it was delicious! I’m definitely ordering multiple of those next time I go. The homemade tortillas were soft and warm. Customer service was top notch. I HIGHLY recommend Nonato’s and I can’t wait to go back!

I visited this understated truck based on stellar reviews and am completely satisfied. The tacos were very, very fresh and absolutely delicious. The young woman taking my order was super friendly and on point. The value for what I paid was amazing. I promised a great review if the food was worthy and I’m following up as promised. Today marked my fifth visit in about a month since finding this truck. I am updating my post after my many experiences. I am still absolutely blown away with this food and friendly service! While I generally prefer a short wait, I really hope they get a lot of new customers. I won’t mind waiting (or I’ll call ahead)! Thank you!!!
